I support the party that doesn't want to add tax to sugary drinks. The supporters want to add tax to sugary drinks because a lot of people have diabetes, but soda isn't the only thing causing diabetes. If they really wanted to stop people from having diabetes, they would have to tax everything that has sugar in it, and no one wants to have grocery tax.
City leaders could use the money from taxes however they want, which means that they don't have to use the money to help the community. Since food would be more expensive, less people would buy food which would hurt small businesses. Even Though soda is bad for people, doesn't mean they should add tax to soda. American Heart Association recommends that children consume less than six teaspoons of sugar a day, but normal cans of soda contains 12-ounces and contains 10 teaspoons of sugar. Although soda is really bad for humans, there are worse things people can consume than soda. Taxing sugary drinks wouldn't be a good idea, it would lead to grocery tax and hurt small businesses.
